 MLA-ACRL 2013 Spring Meeting

The MLA‑ACRL section will have its 2013 Spring Meeting at the Mississippi Library Commission in Jackson from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. on Friday, May 24, 2013.

We are excited to have a great group of speakers discussing a very hot topic in our profession – that of embedded librarianship. The speakers are from the Mississippi State University Libraries and include:


     Brad Brazzeal - Associate Professor/Engineering & Forest Resources Reference Librarian/Extension Librarian 

     Rachel Cannady - Assistant Professor/Distance Education Project Manager/Education Reference Librarian 

     Deborah Lee - Professor/Coordinator of Library Instructional Services and the Corporate and Statistical Research Center/Associate Director of the Center for Teaching and Learning 

     Greta Wood – Assistant Professor/Business Reference Librarian/Honors College Library Liaison

The ACRL section of the Mississippi Library Association will have its Spring Meeting on Thursday, May 24, 2012 at the Mississippi Library Commission in Jackson, Mississippi. The event will be held from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. and will feature Corrie Marsh, Associate Dean for Collections and Scholarly Communication at the University of Southern Mississippi Libraries and Dr. Stacy Creel, Assistant Professor in the School of Library and Information Science at the University of Southern Mississippi. They will present on their experiences with the institutional repository at the University of Southern Mississippi.

MLA-ACRL 2011 Annual Luncheon Meeting at MLA

The ACRL Section of the Mississippi Library Association will have its annual luncheon meeting on Wednesday, October 19, 2011, in the Churchill I and II rooms of the Jackson Marriott Hotel in Jackson, Mississippi, during the 2011 MLA Conference. The event will be held from 12:15 am-2:15 pm.


Our speaker will be Joyce Ogburn, who is the President of the Association of College & Research Libraries (ACRL) for 2011-2012 and the Dean of the Marriott Library and University Librarian at the University of Utah. The title of Joyce's presentation will be "The Future of Academic Libraries." Lunch will be provided by the conference caterer.

Registration for the 2011 MLA Conference will be completely online. To register for the conference and the MLA-ACRL luncheon, go to the online conference registration form at http://library.msstate.edu/mlaconf/register.php . On the online registration form, type in and select the necessary information. To attend the luncheon, scroll down to the "PRE-CONFERENCE, MEALS, AND PROGRAMS" section of the form. Select the "ACRL Luncheon: The Future of Academic Libraries" by selecting the option "Yes, I'm attending! $27" in the amount column on the right. The $27 luncheon cost will be in addition to the conference cost. For payment options, refer to the online registration form. Also, the luncheon will be an event requiring a ticket to attend, so make sure you bring your ticket with you to the luncheon on October 19.
