Natchez Convention Center, Natchez, MS

Officers in attendance: Judith Hilkert, Vice-Chair/Acting Chair; Beth Downey, Secretary. Nominating Committee: Patricia Furr

Judith Hilkert began the meeting with announcements. She has formed a committee to take nominations for upcoming elections for MLA-ACRL officers. Those members of MLA-ACRL who are also members of ALA-ACRL may run for office. She also asked those in attendance to take available handouts and to visit the MLA-ACRL wiki at http://mlaacrl2007.pbwiki.com.

She then introduced the speaker. Karen Green, Graphic Novels Librarian at Columbia University, presented the program “Comics in the Academy: Some Reasons Why,” about graphic novels and her experience in beginning and building Columbia’s collection (related links provided below).
